                    How GMADA’s Land Acquisition Will Transform Mohali

                    The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has decided to acquire 2,600 acres of land in different areas for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. The decision was made during a meeting led by Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha. The land acquisition process is expected to start next month.

                    Land Acquisition Details:

                    Key Decisions:

                    No CLU permissions for private builders: GMADA will not allow private builders to change land use in these areas.
                    Final approval needed: The decision will now go to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for approval.
                    Compensation for landowners: Landowners will get residential or commercial plots under Punjab’s land pooling policy. Some land will also be auctioned to the public.

                    Stopping Unauthorized Colonies

                    GMADA is taking over land in Sectors 120-124 to stop unauthorized colonies from spreading. Recently, unauthorized colonies were found on 50 acres in nearby villages, built without proper approvals.

                    Aerotropolis Project Moves Forward

                    GMADA’s big Aerotropolis project near Chandigarh Airport has received environmental clearance. This township will spread over 5,500 acres and include:
                    8,500 residential plots (100 to 2,000 sq. yards)
                    Commercial areas, parks, sports complexes, shopping zones, and healthcare centers
                    ₹1,000 crore investment in initial development
                    This project is part of GMADA’s plan to boost planned growth in Mohali and provide modern urban living.
